In our own words
A place where the bond carries on.
Shane’s story
Why belonging comes first.
In his published account, Shane describes wanting to create somewhere veterans could feel at home in civilian life. What mattered was keeping the connection between people who had served, long after they left the Forces.
For him, the FOB is a place to reconnect at your own pace. A welcome does not have to begin with a difficult conversation. It can begin with a cup of tea.
“There are no ranks around our table. No judgement. No expectations.”
His hope is for a local network that includes families, neighbours and organisations as well as veterans.
